2017 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS: Top-Speed, acceleration & march-trough

Or should that be Street Triples? Triumph has launched three bikes: the S, R and RS, all with varying states of tune and specs, although the only model present at the international press gig was the full-fat RS version. Is it? Our first challenge involved circumnavigating the snazzy TFT dash. I felt like an year-old struggling to learn how to use a computer for the first time — maybe I just needed more time. In fact, the whole bike is another level of slick and intuitive; the clutch action is ridiculously light, as are the rest of the controls, which lends the RS a certain fluidity to its game.

2017 Triumph Street Triple 765: Bigger, badder, lighter and broader appeal

Really excited. I don't remember that, but I'm not surprised: this is a bike that means a lot to me. I bought a Street Triple R completely blind in It sounded good, looked even better and seemed to fit my 5-foot-9 frame perfectly. It was all a bit too convenient, really. It even had everything I wanted already fitted to it: a belly pan, seat cowl and a set of Arrow underseat exhausts.

Dear me. Triumph's Street Triple was already about the best middleweight naked bike you could buy. Now it's up to cc, while somehow dropping two kilograms. With four different models available — and a low ride height option — the Striple just got a lot better, for an even wider range of riders. As far as many folks were concerned, Triumph's Street Triple was already the king of the middleweight naked class, even if the definition of "middleweight" has been sneaking upwards lately to include bikes like Yamaha's MT FZ and Ducati's Streetfighter When a cc bike is referred to as a middleweight, you know you're living in times of plenty.

At home on the track, and a weapon on the road, it literally tears up the rulebook and sets a whole new standard. Exciting cc Triple engine with even better performance and soundtrack. The RS model has new switchcubes with an intuitive 5-way joystick control that have all been ergonomically optimised to be easy to use — either on the move or at a standstill. Adjust throttle response, ABS, and traction control settings at the touch of a button.
