Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 9.0
MY YEAR [CANYON ULTIMATE CF SL 9.0 DISC]2017 streaming
Welcome to the latest edition of road. The pricing is backed up by bikes that are the real deal. It does its own product development in-house in Koblenz and it is one of only two brands Specialized being the other to support two World Tour teams: Katusha-Alpecin and Movistar. The Ultimate and Endurace are further sub-divided into different platforms. Then, within each of those categories, there are models in various different builds, each given a different number, so you end up with a name like the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 8. The higher the number, the higher the level of spec,
Just simply — wow. But even taking value out of the equation, you'll be hard pressed to beat the weight and performance of the German company's 'all-round' racer. I spent a month testing the updated frameset around the West Country lanes, and one of the best just got better. A glimpse of summer recently hit the South West, and with the Ultimate's test period coming to a conclusion, I decided a trip to the Dorset coast and back would encapsulate what the Canyon is good at — pretty much everything really. An early morning start while most were still languishing in bed meant for little traffic, so a quick blast down a deserted dual carriageway for 10 miles showcased the Canyon's ability to just absolutely devour miles without any real feeling of effort. Canyon has concentrated on aerodynamics with the new Ultimate and it certainly felt quick sitting at a steady 25mph on the flat, smooth tarmac.
The Canyon Ultimate CF SL is billed as a climbers weapon, but thanks to some high tech assistance it's good everywhere else too.

Put to devastatingly convincing use by cyclocross superstar Mathieu van der Poel and the Corendon Circus Team, you just know the Inflite is a true race contender. Equipped with the latest Shimano Ultegra Di2 RX groupset this is a brilliant bike to tackle the cross season with.
What a time to be alive! It still carries identical geometry to the bikes raced by WorldTour teams Movistar and Katusha. Canyon claims a weight of 1. Even the entry points of the internal Di2 cables is something to shout about - their sharp angle designed to prevent frame rub. The biggest gear of 52x11 is plenty for even the biggest sprinter or downhill daredevil, while a smallest ratio of 36x28 should be enough to propel you up all but the longest and most vicious inclines. The H17 Ergo alloy handlebars offer a comfortable short drop that allowed us to get low and aggressive in relative comfort.
Surely an out-and-out racer is supposed to be as stiff as a board and prohibitively expensive, right? Well, apparently not. As well as supplying race-winning bikes to top-level professional teams like Katusha and Movistar, Canyon has garnered quite a reputation for providing high-spec bikes at great prices to Joe Public, and the Ultimate CF SL 9. Weighing in at 7. Canyon is also pretty keen on giving its customers options, with a slick website that allows the buyer to configure the bike how they want it.

German direct-to-consumer brand Canyon have, in recent years, become a powerhouse of bike manufacture, and one of the most desirable bike brands in the industry. The frame is heavily sculpted for best aerodynamic effect, featuring a Trident 2 downtube and shaped seatpost profile that minimises air disturbance around the rear wheel. There are eight models in the Aeroad range, with a range-topping SLX 9. The SLX 8. The Aeroad also comes in disc form — new for Canyon claim it concedes only 0.
Easily rides as well as bikes that cost twice as much. By Ben Delaney. That is to say, I have great confidence in this bike and the Shimano Ultegra-level hydraulics. Similarly, the SLX and SL frames handle the same as they come out of the same molds, with the same geometry. For me, the bike hits the sweet spot of ride characteristics. Lean gently with your hips, and the front end goes exactly where you want.
I was extremely impressed by this bike — it is suitably light, very comfortable and feels quite fast when out on the roads — it does have some aerodynamic features in its seat tube towards the bottom bracket shell which is a little truncated. The bike felt very planted on the road and I was never uncomfortable on it. The wheels supplied by Mavic are the Ksyrium Pro Exalith and I was extremely impressed by the Exalith braking surface which gave me plenty of confidence when descending down twisty roads. The bike is finished with a Canyon-branded stem, handlebar and carbon seatpost which were all surprisingly sublime — the handlebars had a really nice shape to the, the stem felt plenty stiff and the carbon seatpost helped improve comfort. It is a great blend of comfort, speed and aerodynamics and if you wanted to adapt the bike for either these needs, you could do.
